I've never been one to take "normal" photos. I am the kind of person that you might see looking up with my camera or contorted in some uncomfortable position, seemingly looking at nothing, trying for that one unique perspective where everyone who sees this picture will respond with "what is it?". My sister used to kid me a lot because when we were younger, half of the time I would be laying on the ground taking pictures of rocks or patterns in the sand at the beach. I can still hear her voice sarcastically saying "wow, a picture of dirt!" or "you do know that its just a rock, right". Its a good memory because first I love my sister dearly and second because since she was bitten by the photo bug, she's down on the ground next to me taking pictures of that dirt and those rocks. In this new age of digital photography, it is so easy to try different pictures and not worry about wasting film and money, so I encourage all of you to take a new look around and see what you might have been missing. I've lived in the same house for 20 years and still haven't run out of ways to take pictures around the place. The other day I discovered the washer and dryer, for 20 years I thought they were just appliances and now because I took a new look, they are works of art (at least to me) and I can always count on someone responding with "what is it?" (music to my ears).

Take a new look
